Dr. Guoyin Zhang acquired both his MS and PhD in Petroleum Engineering at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMIMT). Most of his research focuses on surfactant screening and modification. His specialty is in EOR surfactant development and formulation. Before his career at PRRC, he worked for Daqing Oil Company (Petro China) for over ten years, where, as the section head of Surfactant Development and Evaluation, he participated in the world's largest ASP flooding project in Daqing Oilfield, Heilongjiang, China. Dr. Guoyin Zhang has published nearly twenty technical papers.
Kate Wavrik earned a B.S. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from New Mexico Tech while working under Dr. Seright. She performs sample testing of polymers and carbon analysis, and works with pressure transducers and data acquisition units. Prior work experience includes a summer internship as a Production Engineer with Texaco Exploration and Production in Midland, TX, where she worked with field craftsmen, participated in well stimulation and logging, and designed workovers for the Penwell area. She was employed as an Associate Technical Professional (ATP) in south Texas, specializing in fracture stimulation; working with high-pressure lines; performing on-sight quality control of fluids and chemical analysis; and participating in cementing, coil tubing, logging and perforating jobs.
