Dr. Guoyin Zhang acquired both his MS and PhD in Petroleum Engineering at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMIMT). Most of his research focuses on surfactant screening and modification. His specialty is in EOR surfactant development and formulation. Before his career at PRRC, he worked for Daqing Oil Company (Petro China) for over ten years, where, as the section head of Surfactant Development and Evaluation, he participated in the world's largest ASP flooding project in Daqing Oilfield, Heilongjiang, China. Dr. Guoyin Zhang has published nearly twenty technical papers.
⦁ Asphaltene onset study and deposition in capillary tubing. Asphaltene instability evaluation and phase behavior at reservoir conditions and its impact on flow assurance
⦁ Crude oil fraction and chemical analysis including SARA, hydrocarbon composition, acid and base number, molecular weight, viscosity, density, refractive index, etc.
⦁ Water/oil interfacial phenomena and surface chemistry study including interfacial tension, surface energy, contact angle, and Zeta potential, etc. Crude oil/brine/rock wettability study on flat substrates and in reservoir condition and their impact on EOR
