Advanced Materials in Hydrocarbon Production

Dr. Ning Liu
Research Scientist and Section Head of Advanced Materials

Dr. Liu holds a PhD in Materials Engineering from New Mexico Tech. He received a BS and MS in Chemistry from Peking University, Beijing, P. R. China. His current research interests are in nanoparticle technology and chemical sensor development. His past research has involved the development of microporous and mesoporous zeolite membranes (MFI, ZSM-5) for application in remediation of produced water from oil and gas production and development of nanoporous zeolite (crystalline aluminosilicates with unique pore structures) thin film-based fiber optic sensor for gas and ions detection. He is co-Lead of the Monitoring, Verification, Accounting (MVA) work group of the Southwest Partnership, led by PRRC representing NMT, one of seven Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnerships (RCSP) established in 2003 by the US DOE to study the feasibility of capturing and storing CO2. His work is in the area of USDW/produced fluids sampling/analysis (fluids, soil flux).
