After diagnosing the cause(s) of the excess water production, what approach should be taken to solve the problem? Each problem type usually requires a different approach, including

  1. choice of treatment method,
  2. properties of the conformance or blocking agent,
  3. volume of conformance or blocking agent used, and
  4. placement method.
